May 17, 2019 — The fight right now is still on the state level, so do *not* let up on all your activism on state reps & Albany. However we must watch what’s happening in D.C. as well. I have been writing Senators Schumer & Gilibrand as well as my Congressional Rep for about 6 months now regarding vaccine rights. I’ve gotten some extensive responses that I will eventually publish here. My rep is not a co-sponsor of this resolution right now. Is yours?
This is Resolution 179. It is not a bill to become a law, but rather resolutions are used as a general understanding or consensus building strategy in Congress. Here is the summary of it:
This resolution commends the international community, health organizations, the private sector, school and community leaders, and faith-based organizations for bolstering health through vaccination.
It also recognizes that the lack of vaccination can create an environment in which a public health crisis could emerge, and that there is no credible evidence that vaccines cause life-threatening or disabling diseases in healthy children or adults.
The resolution also encourages a continued commitment to vaccine research, and urges everyone to follow the scientific evidence and consensus of medical experts in favor of timely vaccinations.
