NYACK, NY (June 15, 2020) – Financial disclosure records from the New York State Board of Elections show that self-described “progressive candidate” Elijah Reichlin-Melnick has accepted thousands of dollars in questionable campaign donations from Donald Trump’s best friend – NYC real estate mogul and GOP bankroller Richard LeFrak.

“You can’t be a progressive candidate – or the right Democratic Party choice – if you are accepting money from a Republican multi-millionaire with deep ties to Donald Trump,” said Justin Sweet, who is seeking the Democratic line in the 38th State Senate Primary on June 23. 

“Democrats are working hard every single day to ensure the values we have long supported – family, equality, health care for all, and so many other important Democratic principles – are not only protected but strengthened. Donald Trump is doing just the opposite and so is anyone who takes money from a donor like Richard LeFrak. My opponent has betrayed all Democrats.”

Follow The Money 
A new political action committee, the Hudson Valley Voters for Change, has suddenly arisen, with thousands of dollars in its coffers – and lots of supporting materials for Reichlin-Melnick, including a glossy new mailer.

But the Hudson Valley Voters for Change PAC has strange ties, including its treasurer, a Brooklyn-based lobbyist whose largest client is billionaire Trump donor and real estate mogul Richard LeFrak. 

In his state disclosure forms, the lobbyist says he will conduct both grassroots and direct lobbying efforts concerning municipal land use and real estate development projects – and that the targets of his efforts will include the New York State Senate.The PAC even has secret donors. Five of the donations made to the PAC were ALL done on June 8, ALL for $5,000 each, and ALL from Richard Lefrak-owned limited liability corporations. ALL five LLCs share the same address in Midtown Manhattan, which is also the address for the LeFrak organization. As of June 12, the PAC has seen more than $210,000 in donations, mostly from LLCs whose ownership is unclear.

  • Each LLC shares the same address as the LeFrak organization
  • LeFrak is a GOP supporter, but $25,000 in PAC donations were made to Democrat Elijah Reichlin-Melnick

Who is Richard LeFrak?
Like his friend Donald Trump, Richard LeFrak inherited his real estate empire. LeFrak has spent recent years helping to bankroll Republican politicians like Senator Lindsey Graham and House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, as well as Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, who is holding up direct aid to New York municipal governments facing significant budget shortfalls due to the pandemic. 

Reichlin-Melnick is campaigning on a message of, “We need State government to work for everyone, not just the wealthy and the well-connected,” but LeFrak isn’t even the first billionaire to invest thousands of dollars in Elijah. Among Elijah’s other donors is venture capitalist and charter school advocate Arthur Rock, who has given $7,500, the maximum allowed.

“Elijah wants us to believe he will always do the right thing, no matter what,” Sweet said. “But his actions stand in opposition to his words. He has shown he is willing to turn a blind eye while a billionaire New York City real estate mogul and GOP activist’s money tries to poison our local elections. MY word CAN be trusted. My actions have proven it time and time again, including my years as Town Clerk and Receiver of Taxes in Clarkstown. I have a track record of working FOR the people and I will continue to do so in Albany.”

June 21, 2020 — Less than 48 hours from New York’s Democratic primary election State Senator Brad Hoylman replied to an extremely valid tweet of mine with the above Gif:

Why did he respond to me with such childish nonsense?

Because I used documented facts that show Hoylman trying to force every child in New York to take Merck’s HPV vaccine will financially benefit his family and their colleagues. As I have previously reported, Hoylman’s mother-in-law is colleagues with the co-inventor of Merck’s HPV vaccine Gardasil; the very same vaccine Hoylman wants to legally force all New York children to take to attend school

I also showed that Hoylman’s mother-in-law is financially connected to Inovio which is receiving funds from Bill Gates to aid in their COVID-19 vaccine development programs. Hoylman is poised to propose legislation in Albany forcing every New York resident to inject the COVID-19 vaccine once it is fast-tracked on to the market. The New York State Bar Assocation (NYSBA) has written a report claiming such a forced vaccination policy is perfectly legal and constitutional. This is not “conspiracy theory,” this is documented fact.

I tweeted the following explanation of this clearly corrupt conflict of interest:

This sophomoric response is a great way to distract from the fact that Brad Hoylman is a corporatist in progressive clothing. He can’t respond to the documented fact that he has conflicts of interests via ties to Big Pharma that are so glaring he does not deserve to pretend to represent the interests of his constituents.

New York’s Insane Multi-Billion Dollar Budget Deficit

June 21, 2020 — Hi, I’m Elizabeth Glass, a Democratic candidate for NY Senate in Manhattan’s District 27.

Wonderful volunteers and I have been hitting the streets of the district, which includes Chelsea, Greenwich Village, East Village, Stuy Town, Peter Cooper Village, Hell’s Kitchen, Times Square, Columbus Circle, Midtown East, UWS. We love hearing from New Yorkers and the issues THEY care about.

Today I want to talk to you about New York State’s Budget Deficit:

Prior to the COVID crisis, New York had a six to eight billion dollar budget deficit. Within two months of the lockdown, that number doubled.

Also prior to the COVID crisis, my opponent sponsored 905 bills for 2020 legislative session; many of these bills were frivolous and wasteful. The problem with Democrats like my opponent is their excessive spending. I believe we as a society must help those who truly need it – disenfranchised people of color, people with disabilities, the homeless, our seniors – but there is far too much unnecessary spending in Albany. 

My opponent treats taxpayers like a sugar daddy with an Am Ex Black card. 

For example, Look at this trash can…(in Washington Square Park) $100,000 on these 68 designer garbage cans at a cost of $1500 each when the same non-designer trashcans cost $718.

To be fair, this is a minor example, but such spending is indicative of questionable budgetary policies. 

Currently, it is impossible to analyze our state’s fiscal situation simply because the numbers are not there: Our state reps do not provide budgetary information written in a clear, understandable, and transparent way. This is a red flag in our state government, and an issue I will raise in Albany when I’m elected. Taxpayers hard-earned money should not be squandered by leaders who embrace excessiveness as a badge of honor.

Brad Hoylman’s Mother-in-law’s Work is Funded by Bill Gates

June 19, 2020 — New York State Senator Brad Hoylman is poised to force every New Yorker to inject the COVID-19 vaccine that Bill Gates is promoting, funding, and likely to profit from. Hoylman’s mother-in-law, Dr. Ellen V. Sigal, is on the board of Parker Institute which has partnered with Inovio, a company receiving funding from Gates for INOVIO’s DNA COVID-19 vaccine. Sigal also receives funding from The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation through the Cancer Moonshot program of which Sigal is a Vice President. Gates donates to many other programs that Dr. Sigal is involved with or is the chair of, including FDA’s Reagan-Udall Foundation, Duke University, C-Path, and Milken Institute of Public Health.

As I have previously reported, Dr. Sigal is a friend and colleague of Dr. Doug Lowy who co-invented Merck’s HPV vaccine Gardasil. Sigal’s son-in-law Senator Brad Hoylman is currently sponsoring a bill in Albany that would force every child in New York to inject Gardasil to attend public school. Hoylman also supports a separate bill that would allow 9-year-olds to be injected with Gardasil in school without parental knowledge or consent.

Bill Gates is a big supporter of the HPV vaccine.

The Gates Foundation supports HPV vaccine research at the National Institutes of Health (NIH) working with Dr. Lowy to study the effectiveness of the vaccine via the Cancer Moonshot program which, again, Brad Hoylman’s mother-in-law Ellen Sigal sits on the board as Vice President.

None of this funding nexus is private information. It is all readily available at the websites of each of these institutions. Brad Hoylman is a corporatist in progressive clothing. He needs to be removed from Albany as his conflicts of interest clearly make it impossible for him to represent the best interests of the people of New York.

NYPD Whistleblower Frank Serpico endorses Steve Lee

June 18, 2020 — Legendary NYPD whistleblower Frank Serpico has endorsed the current NYPD whistleblower Steven Lee in his bid to unseat Assemblyman Ron Kim in Flushing Queens, District 40. Serpico recently tweeted the following in support of Steven Lee:

For those who don’t know the legendary Frank Serpico, he was the original NYPD whistleblower who exposed massive widespread corruption throughout NYC’s police force. A major motion picture titled “SERPICO” was produced about him where Al Pacino played Frank Serpico in the lead role.

Frank Serpico was despised by many in the NYPD as well as by police officers all across the country. Most rank-and-file officers viewed him as “a rat” and worked against him in any-and-every way possible. However all of Serpico’s accusations proved to be 100% true.

Frank Serpico is a New York legend and American hero!

He stood up and spoke truth to power in an age when no one came out from behind the “blue wall of silence.” Frank was a good cop. Despite what many think today there actually are good cops out there. Steven Lee is a good cop as well: that’s why he has become a whistleblower himself. But Ron Kim is a liar, trying to make Lee appear to be a corrupt cop which he clearly is not. Recently the Queens Eagle spoke to Steven Lee and quoted him as follows:

“(Ron Kim) called me a corrupt cop and racist at the peak of the riots (in NYC) and put my full address online, putting myself, my family, my pregnant wife in danger,” Lee said, referring to a now-edited Facebook post from Kim.

“It’s politics, but if this is the dirty game they want to play, then so be it,” he continued. “This is why I’m running to clean up Albany like I’m cleaning up the police department.”
